Pillar Tool

The 'pillar tool' was one of the first big projects that I undertook,  and it is basically a tool that makes many tasks easier.

These are pictures of the main components of the pillar tool,  the bed plate was made up by machining as two components that were machined and then bolted and using industrial engineering glue, this has proved the test of time,  a lot of ball handles were required for this build and a separate ball turning tool was constructed.

One of the best uses I have found is the holding of components for delicate jobs such as tapping small holes ( these are 10ba - 1.7mm ) by keeping everything in alignment, these are being tapped in a pipe flange on a small steam boiler.
